Portugal has the most cafés and bars, with about 718 such businesses registered per 100,000 people. Greece follows with 709, while Albania, Spain, Italy, Czechia, Cyprus, and Croatia all record more than 425, far above the EU average of 332. In these countries, a café is not simply a place to have a drink, but part of the everyday scenery where the day finds its rhythm. Eurostat's category, however, combines cafés, bars, and restaurants, and there is no unified global statistic that tracks cafés alone.
